Many await the beautiful flowering of the Lupine in the month of June here in my home state of Maine. It is one of the most unique and favored wild flowers that adorn our natural landscape. You know that when the Lupines start to appear here, the long awaited Summer season is finally here!
I love the patches of purple lupines when they start to appear along roadsides and fields. From a distance they are a stunning accent to fields and pastures and open areas. To me they are even more stunning the closer you get. The delicate unique shapes are a testimony to God’s wisdom and creativity.
There is dispute if the Lupine is a native species of Maine. There are roadside lupines from seeds that have been broadcast and seeds spread from grown stock elsewhere in gardens and backyards. I have researched a little and it seems, that there is a strain, of wild native Maine lupine. I believe the truly Maine native variety, is more blueish than purple but don’t hold me to this.
Regardless the lupines are in bloom in our beautiful State of Maine. A great place to see them and a fantastic natural scenic area as well is Acadia National Park and surrounding area. I will be there this coming weekend at The 14th Annual Legacy of the Arts Show on the Bar Harbor Common, June 22-22 Sat. and Sun 9am-5pm each day. If you stop by the Show look up my Thayden’s Photography booth.
All the image you see here are available in matted prints and upon request on canvas as are all other images in my web gallery albums.
If your not convinced already, I hope to convince you through my lens that “Maine is a State of Mind”!
